Day 1 Roses

Arrival on your own at the hotel.

After check-in, the rest of the day is at leisure. This evening, let's get totgether with our fellow travellers for a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Roses Cap de Creus Roses

We will have the morning and afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Roses. Later today, Let’s set off on the Roses Express for a half day excursion to the Cap de Creus Nature Park where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. Here we will enjoy the panoramic views of the bay of Roses and the surrounding coves. Train duration: 2 hrs (approx. 30km).

Day 4 Roses Núria Roses

Today, let’s uncover more of the beauty of the Pyrenees. We will depart the hotel for a full-day guided excursion of the Spanish side of the Pyrenees and to the magnificent Nuria Valley as well as a trip on the Nuria rack railway. The train will climb almost 1000m before arriving at the remote town of Nuria. Railway is the only form of access to this small town and pilgrimage centre, home to an image of the Virgin Mary. We will finish the day with a visit to the Sanctuary, before returning down the valley on the train once more. Train duration: 1 hr (approx. 25km).

Day 3 Roses Villefranche-de-Conflent Mont Louis Roses

Let’s discover more this morning as we cross the border to France where we spend the day exploring the French side of the Pyrenees. First, we will visit the fortified town of Villefranche-de-Conflent, a UNESCO world heritage site. Here we will have some free time to explore the fortresses built during the time of Louis XIV and designed by the French engineer Vauban.

In the afternoon, let’s admire the scenery from the comfort of our carriage as the train winds its way up into the Tet valley, passing through forests and tunnels and across ravines and viaducts, including the Pont Gisclard suspension bridge and the Séjourné viaduct with its dramatic double-decker arches. We will finish this scenic journey at the small village of Mont Louis before returning to our hotel by coach. Train duration: 1.15 hrs (approx. 29km).

Day 5 Roses

We will have today to relax and enjoy the scenic seaside town of Roses. Our local guide will be happy to suggest activities and advise which highlights are a must – see. Why not relax on the beach or enjoy some souvenir shopping followed by lunch in the Spanish sunshine.

Day 6 Roses Axat Roses

Due to an early start, a packed breakfast to go will be arranged this morning.

Let’s explore more as we board the Red Train. Here we will travel from Rivesalets to Axat along the 100-yearold line, passing castles, vineyards, viaducts and tunnels along the way. On arrival in Axat we will have some time at leisure to explore this pretty town before our transfer by coach back to our hotel.
Train duration: 2:45 hrs (approx. 60km).

Day 7 Roses Figueres Roses

Today we will experience more as we travel to the town of Figueres, to visit the Dalí Museum (entrance included). Salvador Dalí was born in Figueres and he is considered the father of surrealism. His artistic repertoire includes a great variety of paintings, films, sculptures, and photographs. The heart of the museum is the building that housed the Figueres town theatre when Dalí was a child and is where the young Dalí’s first exhibitions were showcased. The museum now displays the largest and most diverse collection of his works.

In the afternoon we will return to the hotel and where will have the afternoon at leisure.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia.
