Day 1 Portorož

Arrival on your own hotel.

After check-in, the rest of the day is at leisure. This evening, let's get together with our fellow travellers for a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Portorož Izola Portorož

Join us for a panoramic boat trip from Portoroz to Izola! We’ll depart Portoroz port towards the picturesque coastal town of Piran, tucked between the sea and its impressive town walls. We’ll continue along the peninsula of Piran and enjoy a spectacular view of the high cliffs of Strunjan Natural Park and the charming towns scattered along its coast.

We’ll marvel at the amazing backdrop of the Italian coastline as we reach Izola, an ancient fishing town. Take in Izola's white-washed bell towers, exclusive marina and fertile vineyards in the distance as we return to Portoroz.

(Note that in the rare occurrence of unsuitable weather, this excursion may be re-scheduled to a different day)

The afternoon will be spent at our leisure. Our guide will be happy to offer some recommendations on what to do according to your interests.

Day 3 Portorož Trieste Portorož

After breakfast we will set off for a full day excursion to the neighbouring country of Italy. After crossing the border, we’ll travel towards the city of Trieste, well known for its numerous cultural and historical monuments, palaces and churches.

Our tour will start at the beautiful Miramare Castle, a 19th century castle located on the Gulf of Trieste. Surrounded by a flourishing park, it offers a spectacular panoramic view from a cliff high above the sea. We’ll continue to Trieste for a guided walking tour of its historic centre, where we’ll discover many wonders the city has to offer, such as a picturesque piazzas, sumptuous palazzo-museums, classic coffeehouses and delicious seafood restaurants. There will be some free time for lunch and independent exploration, before returning to our hotel for dinner.

Day 4 Portorož Postojna Caves Predjama Castle Portorož

After breakfast, embark on a morning guided excursion to the Postojna Caves to admire the spectacular 24km underground system of passages, tunnels, halls, and karst features. While there, enjoy a one-of-a-kind train ride on the unique cave railway, view the blackened entrance which was damaged by fire during World War II and the impressive Congress Hall, which is now used as a concert venue.

From here, we will head to Predjama Castle (entrance included), a storybook castle wedged beneath a dramatic stone archway and against a cliff. Admire the unique Renaissance architecture of the castle located in south-central Slovenia, in the historical region of Inner Carniola.

Day 5 Portorož Lake Bled Ljubljana Portorož

Join us today as we visit Lake Bled for a guided tour, including a boat trip to Bled Island, which lies in the centre of the lake’s glacial blue waters. The small island is home to a church, small museum, and the historic South Staircase.

In the afternoon, we’ll travel to Ljubljana where we will enjoy a guided walking tour to uncover the city's highlights, including the leafy banks of the Ljubljanica River. Afterwards, we’ll have free time to get some lunch and further explore the city at our own pace.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
