Day 1 Madrid

Meet and greet at the airport. Transfer to your hotel for the check-in and rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning guided city tour of Madrid: explore the medieval origins of the city, such as the Arabic fortress at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historical buildings. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs characterised by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa; the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. Admire the XIX century works, such as Prado Museum; the contemporary Madrid, with areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla and Parque del Oeste, as well as commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium.

Day 3 Madrid Salamanca Porto

After breakfast, proceed to check-out of the hotel for your departure to Salamanca. Free time in this UNESCO World Heritage university city of great architectural and artistic interest.

Then depart towards the Portuguese border and arrive in Porto, where you will check-in at your accommodation.

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your guided sightseeing tour of Porto and discover its UNESCO World Heritage historical centre.

In Particular, you will admire the breath-taking Cathedral of Porto, the beautiful Palacio da Borsa (former Stock Exchange of the city) and Santa Clara Church. Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River aboard the BlueBoats Cruise. Continue your visit by stopping at a well-known Port wine cellar, with wine tasting included.

Day 5 Porto Coimbra Fatima

After breakfast, travel to Coimbra, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe and birthplace of Fado, the famous traditional music. Enjoy some free time and then continue onto Fatima, important centre of the Christian faith with its wonderful Sanctuary and the impressive Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Cova da Iria, where the Virgin Mary appeared. Visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta.

Day 6 Fatima Batalha Nazare Alcobaça Lisbon

After breakfast at the hotel, travel to the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and Manueline style, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré, one of the most popular seaside resorts along The Silver Coast, where you will have some free time. Then, continue to Alcobaça, another impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its famous gothic Monastery. You will then proceed towards Lisbon and check-in at your hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo (the name given to Lisbon when it was part of the Roman Empire), driving through its main squares and avenues. Witness the beauties of the city, such as The Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, the National Coach Museum, The Monument to the Discoveries, Marquis of Pombal Square and Liberty Avenue.

Afternoon at leisure for you to wander through the nostalgic corners of the Alfama Quarter, the oldest and most historical part of Lisbon.

Day 8 Lisbon Caceres Madrid

After breakfast, travel to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Caceres, considered an important historical site thanks to its blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. Walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town, with the famous Medieval Quarter.

Then, continue to Madrid and check-in at your hotel.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
