Day 1 Vienna

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is truly a standout on your Danube cruise. It has that certain charm that sets it apart. The locals speak in a melodic manner that almost feels like a song. It's also worth mentioning that it's quite common for business owners to address their loyal customers using their full titles. This is just one of the unique customs you'll encounter here. The city boasts an impressive collection of museums, galleries, palaces, and castles. On your second day in Vienna, there are so many amazing places to explore! Start off by strolling along the picturesque Ringstrasse, taking in the breathtaking view of the St Stephen's Cathedral. Don't forget to make a stop at the famous Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater for a fun adventure.

During your self-guided visit, be sure to indulge in the authentic Viennese coffee culture by cozying up at a charming coffee house. And how could you miss out on visiting the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace? This stunning baroque complex is not only recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also offers a fascinating virtual reality experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich history of the palace.

Day 3 Vienna Esztergom Budapest

Esztergom
Arriving at 08:00 AM and departing at 10:30 AM, Esztergom used to be the capital of Hungary. It is located right on the bank of the Danube and offers a picturesque view from the river. The castle tower and magnificent basilica create a breathtaking sight, rising up from the steep bank of the Danube. You won't want to miss capturing this view during your Danube cruise. Luckily, A-ROSA ships have delightful sun decks where you can relax and enjoy the scenery!

Budapest
Arriving at 03:00 PM, did you know that Budapest has a total of seven bridges? These bridges connect the neighborhoods of Buda and Pest, with the Széchenyi Chain Bridge being the most famous one. As you cruise down the Danube, you'll have the opportunity to admire Budapest's impressive structures. And if you step out onto the sun deck of your A-ROSA ship, you'll have a clear view of Budapest's iconic parliament building. It's the perfect way to experience the beauty of this stunning city.

Today you can continue to explore this amazing city on your own.

Day 5 Budapest Bratislava

We'll be leaving Budapest at 09.00 am and arriving in Bratislava around 3.30 pm.

Bratislava, home to around 450,000 friendly inhabitants, is situated on the beautiful left bank of the Danube River. It's actually the youngest capital city in Europe! As you explore the charming old town, you'll notice the fascinating traces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire all around you. This delightful city is filled with stunning baroque and rococo architecture, magnificent palaces, and quaint coffee houses. It's the perfect place to wander, take in the impressive sights, and just unwind in a leisurely manner.

Day 6 Krems Melk

Krems an der Donau is located near the beautiful Austrian capital of Vienna. It's a charming city that is part of the Wachau, a stunning stretch of the Danube valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your Danube cruise, you will have the pleasure of passing through Krems, enjoying the picturesque views of the Wachau as you travel to and from Vienna.

Melk, known as the 'Gateway to the Wachau', is a must-visit destination in the Danube Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site. Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia. It is your responsibility as the traveller and/or travel booker to meet all government entry requirements.
