Your day begins with a very early departure, approx 2.30am, from outside the hotel. Your coach will be waiting nearby and a representative will escort you from the hotel to the coach.
Travel to Villers Bretonneux for the dawn service at the Australian National Memorial.
After the service we will remain on site at the Memorial where you will have time to visit the memorial itself, take a coffee and croissant before visiting the Sir John Monash Centre at 8am. At 9.30am we make our way to the village of Villers Bretonneux, where at 10.00am you will visit the Victoria School and Museum. You will also have time for a coffee in the village bar and a look around.
Leaving the town of Villers Bretonneux at 11.30am, your afternoon includes the crash site of the Red Baron, an overview of the Battle of Le Hamel and the 3rd Division Memorial. On the Somme 1916 Battlefield we first see Pozieres Ridge including the Gibraltar Blockhouse, 1st Division Memorial, 2nd Divisional Memorial at the ‘Windmill’.
At 2.30pm, we'll stop in Bullecourt Village for the ‘Digger’ service, followed by an opportunity to visit the Museum at Bullecourt before returning to Arras. Drop off point will be close to your hotel.
Overnight stay in Arras at Mercure Arras Centre Gare.
Note: due to the early departure, a take away breakfast box will be provided today by the hotel. During the day there will also be a number of opportunities to buy a coffee or something to eat.
